Sunday 15 September (9:00-11:00)
We invite you to celebrate the end of the summer with us by joining in on one of the most universal yogasana sequences; the Surya Namaskara or sun salutation. We join our energies to forge a most spiritual circle in completing 108 sun salutations together!
The postures of the Sun Salutation are performed in a steady, rhythmic sequence, coinciding with the breath and specific mantras. It is more than just a series of physical exercises. Surya Namaskara is a complete sadhana, a spiritual practice which has been handed down from the sages of Vedic times. It has a direct vitalizing effect on the solar energy of the body. (Satyananda Saraswati)
We will start the yoga mala chanting the 12 mantras guided by kirtan artists Luc and Fabienne. These mantras are connected with each posture of Surya Namaskara. You will also learn to use the first and last mantra as a meditative aid to complete the mala. During the session you will be able to profoundly connect with each posture and options will be given when rest is needed. You will be surprised that finishing the 108 namaskaras is a goal feasible for every yogi/ni who has some experience in the practice of yoga.
Deepen your practice and connect with your inner vitality…
- by learning the 12 asanas of the surya namaskara and a chance to discover many in depth-aspects of these ancient asanas
- chanting the 12 surya mantras which correspond to the individual asanas and their respective meaning
- developing a connection with the spiritual practice that is surya namaskara and by creating an opportunity for achieving higher awareness
- dedicating your practice and experiencing bhakti and karma yoga
This event will be lead by hatha yoga teacher Iris Snoeck, together with live mantra music by Luc Acke and Fabienne Huygen.
We are also delighted to announce that Mala Spirit will be part of the Yoga Mala! Please come and browse their extensive selection of exquisite malas made in Bali.
We will dedicate our 108 sun salutations and the energy they bring to everyone fighting cancer and especially to the local initiative “Surplus ZNA”, a charity for supporting the well-being of cancer patients by giving opportunities for regaining self-esteem and building courage.
Suggested donation: 25€ out of which 20% will go to charity.
